This year, Ohio has been celebrating the life, literature, and legacy of Toni Morrison, Lorain, Ohio native and the first African American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. It’s only fitting that an organization of bibliophiles, such as NOBS, participate in this celebration. Join us at our August Forum as we welcome Dr. Meredith Gadsby to help us honor the legacy of Toni Morrison.
Dr. Gadsby is Chair of the Africana Studies Department at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where she teaches the literature of Africa and the African Diaspora. She is the author of Sucking Salt: Caribbean Women Writers, Migration and the Politics of Identity (U Missouri Press). Dr. Gadsby is member of the Toni Morrison Society and served as faculty liaison to the TMS when it was based at Oberlin College. Originally from Queens, NY, she has lived in NE Ohio for 26 years. Dr. Gadsby teaches a Toni Morrison Seminar at Oberlin, introduces her students to Morrison in her classes, and writes about her body of work extensively.
We’ll meet at Loganberry Books at 7:00 PM. If you prefer, you may join us via Zoom:
